Free is a powerful word. When you see free, your mind automatically thinks that it is the best deal for you and that there isn’t any consequence to it. In the world of cloud storage, this is very much the opposite. There are a lot of providers out there that boast about their “free cloud storage”, but don’t be fooled – if it’s too good to be true, it probably is. A lot of providers will trick you into signing up for cloud storage software, but purposely make it a bad experience for you. They will tone down file-transfer speed, their multi-platform support, and perhaps even their security unless you upgrade to their premium version. This is why I always recommend not to waste your time with free cloud programs. The only one I can think of that is somewhat decent is Google Drive, but only the first 5 GB are free; if you want anymore then you’ll have to pay up.
Like I said, it’s not worth it. Worst yet is that it is risky to go with free cloud storage. Security is a big aspect to cloud storage – it’s why we invest in cloud storage anyways isn’t it? Cloud storage is supposed to get rid of all the security problems of keeping files and data on your device. If it’s stolen then you lose access to all your files. So why would you want to invest to a cloud storage provider who doesn’t have secure servers to protect you from the exact same thing happening? This is why I always advise that you look into your provider’s security. You’ll be surprised that even some of the cheapest cloud storage providers out there have some high-quality security; it really does pay to pay.
Once you’re able to pay just a little bit for cloud storage, it opens the door to so much more possibility. Look at MyPcBackup for example. For just $4.95 a month you get a fantastic deal that includes 250GB for an entire year, plus access to all their cool features. MyPcBackup is extremely affordable and is supported on virtually all devices and platforms – even Kindle Fire has access to cloud storage through MyPcBackup! So let’s say money isn’t an issue and you want access to an insane amount of space; MyPc has your back! Their unlimited plan is available for just $6.95 a month. Not too many providers can beat that.
